THE AUSTRAL
The Austral Band Room, in the storied 145-year-old Adelaide East End institution of the South Australian live music scene, is back in the game.
General Admission Entertainment is stoked to partner with the operators of The Austral to bring live music back to the infamous Rundle Street pub.
Over the past month some great acts have taken to the stage in the revamped band room to try it on for size, and we are now taking forward bookings for Friday nights, and all other nights by arrangement, from March 28th.
The 150 capacity room, in the space which was once a famed beer garden, is lined with red stage curtain and roof filled with disco balls, creating a unique room and vibe.
The East End of Adelaide has long been home to the heart of the live music scene in South Australia, once upon a time on any given night you could wander a couple of blocks and see live bands on most nights at The Austral, The Exeter, Producers Bar (RIP), Tivoli (RIP) and Crown & Anchor (soon to be on hiatus for an extended period).
The beer garden at The Austral was an integral part of that circuit hosting local and touring bands almost nightly until some well documented battles with new residents behind the hotel. Fast forward a couple of decades and some progressive local and state governments later and regular original live music is back.
